What is liver detoxification? What do you take for it? How does it work? How do you know if it's working? What's your opinioin is it worth going through?
Did you know that your liver is your body's natural detoxification organ? So, it is very important to take good care of your liver and stay away from alcohol, drugs and junk foods... Oh yeah, here are some info to share with you; http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/389199/your_bodys_filter_three_ways_the_liver.html http://tuberose.com/Liver_Detoxification.html
I have many Milk Thistle plants in my backyard. How can I use it to help with liver detoxification? I have been suffering with gallstones for some time. I have had a couple of gallbladder attacks, so I am trying to find natural way to help in my health. I have read that Milk Thistle helps in the production and quality of bile. I am trying to make sure that bile flows through and has a chance to work with other remedies for the removal of gallstones. Any information is helpful as I don't want to go through surgery to have my gallbladder removed.
A2 Biology question - liver and detoxification? Hepatocytes contain a large group of enzymes called the cytochrome P450 enzymes. These are responsible for the breakdown of some toxic molecules such as cocaine and other drugs (recreational and medicinal). The P450s are most concentrated in the endoplasmic reticulum of hepatocytes. As a result of variation, these enzymes can be more effective in some people than others. Many drugs can be more effective in some people than in others and may also cause variable side effects. A) Suggest why the P450s are most concentrated in the endoplasmic reticulum B) Suggest why many medicinal drugs have different side effects in different people C) Explain why P450s are not identical in every person.
What is NOT a function of the liver? a. Detoxification of alcohol and drugs b. Synthesis of glucagon c. Synthesis of cholesterol d. Deamination of amino acids e. Glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis I am pretty sure C, D, and E are all functions of the liver. I am not sure of A or B though. I know the liver does metabolize drugs and alcohol, but I am not sure if it "detoxifies" them. I am not sure about B either because I do no understand glucagon. Any explanation is greatly appreciated!
Dr says that my liver is not functioning correctly...? He said that its collecting fat instead of processing it and this is why I have gained weight... I am now 164lbs and am 5'4". Was diagnosed with FATTY LIVER and thickening Gallbladder. Dr. is doing a blood test that is supposed to be equivalent to a liver biopy tomorrow. He is looking for scarring in the liver and he told me to go on a low carb diet... South Beach Diet.. does anyone else have this and what were you told? I get sick when I eat... last night I left the restaurant and threw up in the parking lot... does anyone know about liver detoxification? I would like to try this... thanks by the way - its NOT because of alcohol, as I dont drink. he is looking for NASH fiber?
Looking for Liver Detox Diet? When I do a search for a liver detox diet most of what I find are ads trying to sell me tablets or teas. Does anyone know of a good liver detoxification diet? I had one many years ago but have since lost it. It had to do with fasting and drinking lemon juice, etc....
Which sequence is correct, for how glucose is metabolized? And a question about the liver...? A. Glycolysis, Krebs cycle, electron transport chain B. Krebs cycle, glycolysis, electron transport chain C. Krebs cycle, electron transport chain, glycolysis D. Electron transport chain, glycolysis, Krebs cycle E. Glycolysis, electron transport chain, Krebs cycle Which of the following is NOT a function of the liver? A. Producing digestive enzymes B. Chemical detoxification C. Converting one type of nutrient to another D. Vitamin and mineral storage E. All of these are functions of the liver
Detoxification and medications? Since medications are like toxins for your body, liver, then when you do a body detoxification, do the effects of the medication lessen, because the meds are being washed out of your body??? In particular, when you're trying to get off some anti-depressent medication you've been taking for 5 years, and you detox at the same time, could you have worse withdrawal symptoms (if my theory is right) ?
the key functions of the liver? What are the key functions of the liver, with regards to assimilation of glucose, amino acids, detoxification and bile formation
Detoxification for psoriasis? Has anyone tried liver detox for psorisis ? is it useful and how long it takes to clear patches ? is there any harm to take red clover combination tablets ( detox tablets ) for long term ?
Body Detoxification? I've been hospitalized last Feb. due to Acid Reflux and blood test showed that i have fatty liver and tiny polyps in the gallbladder. I was given medication to reduce tryglycerides and sylimarin for liver. Since then i started to change my diet, more fruits, vegetables and fish with once in a while meat. I also started doing exercises in the morning and playing basketball or table tennis in the evening. However, lately, i'm experiencing light headedness but not chronic, i just feel that i'm a bit dizzy, is this part of detoxification in my body?

Can a doctor perform detox on someone is they have cirrosis of the liver? Can a doctor perform detox on someone is they have cirrosis of the liver? my step farther had a hernia for about 2 years now. it got to the point were it was so painful that he had to go to the hospital, doctors told him he had to have emergency surgery or else he would die because the hernia was sitting on his intestine which they stated would burst if the hernia wasn't removed immediately. so they surgically removed it but noticed he had a lott of alcohol in his system, because he drank quiet a bit in his life and he loved to drink. which means he must have drank that day or thenighte before his surgery. so doctors decided to detox him right after his surgery, now correct me if im wrong but i thought a person was suppose to recover from a surgery before hand. they never gave him a chance to recover from surgery and put him into detox immediately. and not only that but he should have gone through therapy before any type of detoxification. supposedly as told by the doctors he hadcirrhosiss or the liver and when they detoxed him his body was not able to get rid of the toxins that were trying to be push out of his body because of the supposed cirrhosiss. so to make a long story short, his liver was not able to filter the toxins and he died :'-( honestly this does not seem right to me and if he had cirrhosiss the doctors should have known that if they took tests to make sure he wasHealthyy enough for the detox. now correct me if im wrong but this is defiantly medical malpractice in my eyes! and they placed death upon a person that would have survived with just surgery. if anyone knows they answers to any of this and feels like this i wrong please feel free to comment with mature answers only. thank you everyone. ***r.i.p step dad/esque/pook*** you will always be missed.

Have to take Mediclear, but can't...? I am trying to do a liver detoxification program for my health, but the powder substance I'm required to take is disgusting! It was recommended I mix the powder with fruit juice to make it less "gross", but my body refuses to let me drink it! Rather, every time I take a sip, my body gags it right back up. I've used tons of fruit juice and tricks, but it's not working and I don't know what to do because I need to take it. Any suggestions?!
What organelles would be found in greater numbers among the following cells? The original question was asked as such: describe the cell parts that would be found in greater numbers in a stomach cell, muscle cell, liver storage cell, liver detoxification cell, adipose cell, white blood cell, mesophyll cell, plant leaf cell, and potato cell. So, the question is asking what cell parts (organelles) are more abundant or of greater proportion among these cells than they would normally be. Based on what I know of these cells, my guess as to which organelles would be most numerous is as follows: stomach cell - ribosomes (build proteins from digested food) ; possibly also lysosomes (break up wasted food) muscle cell - mitochondria (muscle cells need more energy) liver storage cell - vacuoles (stores water and some energy) liver detoxification cell - peroxisome (helps to rid body of toxins) adipose cell - vacuole white blood cell - lysosomes mesophyll cell - plastids (contains pigment, stores some food) ; possibly chlorophyll as well (causes pigmentation as well) plant leaf cell - chlorophyll potato cell - I'm completely unsure, but I would guess cytosol because potatoes are composed of starch, and starch is a complex carbohydrate, which means it's a long strand of sugars, so that energy needs to be either the golgi apparatus or one of the reticulum's because the large amount of energy in the cell would need packaging I would be most appreciative if anyone can tell whether my educated guesses based on the structures of the cells is correct. If they are not, I would be grateful if you could tell me what you believe (or know) the correct answer to be. Also, as a side note, I'm not looking to get into some of the more obscure organelles that occur in one cell type only; I'm going for the generic ones that you would generally see in most plants and animals, and that tend to occur in most cells.

Weight lifting supplements...PLEASE help!? my stats: 18 years old 5'8" 145lbs. i get about 30 mins of vigorous muscle workouts in the morning, and at least 15 mins at night of push-ups, pull-ups, sit ups, boxing, ect. and on weekends i jog for about 15 mins and come home and do more excersizes. (due to schedualing conflicts i am very limited for the time i have to excersize but i am in pretty decent shape. i just starting taking something called SOS 500 by double dragon pharmaceuticals. (doubledragonlabs.com) i have heard alot about this product through friends and family members. however, i cannot not find very much about this product and reviews on the internet. its chemical combination: 4-Chloro-17a-Methyl-Androsta-1, 4-diene-3, 17-diol 15 mg 13-ethyl-3-methoxy-gona-2,5 (10) dien-17-one 20 mg 2a-17a di-methyl eticholan 3-one, 17b-ol 5 mg those dosing instructions are to take one capsule with meals twice daily. followed by a 30 cycle of PCT 350 by double dragon (60 pills, 2 a day) and TST 750 by double dragon (84 pills, with no doseing instructions) this cycle will be followed by a one month cycle of stakabol (however bing results only find it as Stackabol, even through that's not how it's spelled on the bottle) with the chemical compound: 2-ene(17a-methyl-etioallocholan-2-ene-17b-ol 10mg 4-chloro-17a-methyl-andro-4-ene-3,17b-diol 25mg 2a,17a-dimethyl-17b-hydroxy-5a-androstan-3-one 10mg Milk Thistle (silymarin) 200mg NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) 100mg ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) 100mg (60 pills, 2 a day with meals) and this will be followed by a PCT Xabol (made by the same company as stakabol) also, i no Xabol has milk thistle in it as well, where none of the double dragon products do. but i planned on taking a 500mg pill of niacin on the weekends while on the double dragon products because i have read that side effects of niacin are flushing, (and i took it before and my skin turned all red and irratated) and that its really good for takeing the toxins out of your blood, organs, ect. SO, i a have a few questions and if you can at least answer one of them lemme no what you have to say. 1) i know they are both probably unhealthy for me, but which one will most likely give me better results as far as gaining muscle mass and weight? 2) are my PCT's (PCT 350 & TST 750, Xabol) very good PCT supplements/will they provide good results as far as either gaining more muscle or keeping the muscle i gained. 3) will Niacin help with my liver detoxification instead of milk thistle, and will it affect any of the supplements (such as weaken them or take them out of my system, ect.) 4) what do all of these chemical compunds mean? 5) has anybody had any experience or heard of any of these supplements? 6) do you know of any other supplements that are supposed to be/you've hear of that are really good or even better then the these to gain a large amount of strength and mass over a short period of time? AGAIN THANK YOU TO ANYBODY WHO HAS ANY INFORMATION ON ANY OF MY QUESTIONS I DEEPLY APPRECIATE YOU TAKEING THE TIME TO READ THIS AND ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW THANKFUL I AM!
Weekly Binge Drinking and its effect on my health.(im 17 yr old girl)? I started drinking for the first time around a year ago and i used to be pretty bad and get quite drunk evry weekend but i try to stop a bit now, doing like once or twice a month. I only drink with my friends to get drunk..for the fun of it. but nowadays ive learned not to get completly smashed, i havent got to the vomiting/blanking out stage for quite a few months now & normally just get a bit over tipsy, I take milk thistle tablets (aid in liver detoxification) and tryyy drink heaps of water on drunk nights... im also quite fit and eat healthy. I was wondering how much the alcohol will be effecting my health? my main worry is that it'll make me stupid , i know it kills brain cells.. Is this actually the alcohol or the dehydration that alcohol causes? (i very rarely get headache hangovers the day after, normally its just a queasy stomach) And please dont send me answers simply saying stop drinking, its stupid etcetera.. haha i already know that much.. thanks for ur help

Natural treatment for blackheads and redness? I went to a naturopathic doctor and I was diagnosed a bad case of candida, IBS, colon and digestive problems, hormonal imbalances (estrogen and progesterone levels-I"m a gal btw) plus anemia. I am doing liver detoxification by a chinese accupressure method using a chinese machine. The doc put me off milk products which cleared my red cystic acne dramatically even when I had my period and i might be allergic to milk because when I drink it sometimes - my jaw clicks and it hurts so bad. I also had back acne flare up so badly a few weeks ago on my back that it was big cysts and so painful even when I sleep on a mattress or when my back leans on to something..but after completely quitting milk it disappeared and there's just small coloured brown spots of remenants of acne but no bumps or anything! One thing though- I still have really big pores and blackheads, and red spots of the cystic acne that cleared up almost everywhere on the face and i was wondering how I could get rid of them in the short term using a cheap method. In the past week I have been transitioning into a vegan diet..I think these blackheads maybe because of my bad candida or digestive problems- is this true? and please suggest cheap short term remedies or methods I can use to reduce the size of pores and get rid of blackheads (without extraction)?
Detoxification Metabolism Question (PhD’s and health care professions only please)? 1) I know that all hydrophilic nutrients absorbed through the vili in the small intestine get taken through a series of veins before they end up at the hepatic portal vein. My first question is this, how much of a specific toxin does the liver absorb before sending it out into systemic circulation? 2) In the case of alcohol, how high is the BAC in the hepatic portal vein as apposed to the lower BAC of the hepatic veins. 3) Does sublingual administration of drugs (ie nitro) bypass the HPV and therefore deliver a higher dose for a longer duration? Same with nasal administration for some fast acting sedatives used in psych wards. (versed)
Do I have to use fresh lemon juice for detoxification benefits? I have a friend who has been doing a liver detox by drinking 1 cup of warm water with the juice of half a lemon. One cup before breakfast and one cup before bed. She has had amazing results with her acne and I am hoping to do the same. For anyone who has has success with it before, do you know if you get the same results by using the lemon juice that comes in a bottle? It would be much more convenient. Thanks! Oh, actually I didn't ask for ignorant opinions from people who have no idea what they're talking about, but thanks anyway.
My Golden Retriever is sick, help us? I have an 11yr old, Female golden retriever, Jessie, who's always been in great health up til the last 6mos. This past fall she had to go into the hospital for detoxification of her Liver and kidneys from renal related problems. Her Teeth also had been cleaned surgically and gums too. They are fine now, but then, she was at the early stages of of a peridontal issue last fall. I'm already aware that poor dental health in dogs can lead to renal problems as well as others. Her tetth have always been taken care of in the past, now its getting harder as she gets older. Her blood profile showed last fall that she was halfway towards fatal level of complete renal failure (scale of 1-15, she was at close to 8). So she then went thru the fluid treatments. At the end of treatments, they were able to get her down to about the level between 0-1. Afterwards, ($1,800.00 later from the bills), I've found that by x-mas and new year's she was really feeling better. Playful and frisky, eating like a hor horse again, so on. Since then, the Vet has given me for her, vitamins for her immune system, also a supplemental vitamin tablet for her liver/kidneys, and drops for me to give to her orally 2x day to help keep toxin (not really a good word for this but...), level down low to help keep liver/kidneys cleared while she is trying to digest her food. But as of the last week she has been losing weight again and she's does not have the appetite like normal as of the last day and a half. She did vomit for the first time, since October, yesterday morning. Her stools are still fine (not dark, which indicates possble bleeding in her stomach). I've called my dog's Vet to question on further, how to care for her now to try and keep her comfortable. I wasn't able to reach the Vet today...I'm avoiding the hospital again til the last resort...too expensive, and I already had to make some sacrifices just to pay her past bills. I need to seriously know if there is any kind of special diet or natural fo natural foods that I could try while she is sick again, you know about the pills/drops I've already been given, but what about the foods?...she's been on a safe and healthy diet all her life but now she won't even eat her favorite treats, (which is really hard to believe when it comes to her cookies and dental chews! Or even pay attention to her favortie time of day, MEALTIMES!!! she would alwys go crazy that time!). She won't eat her science diet dry food, even if add a little warm water to it. I need to get her to eat and keep her hydrated. I'm looking for serious responses only, please, for her sake. In all honesty, I know she is older now and I know she can't be around forever (though it would be a dream come true because she is so well loved by all around her and she gives like other pets do, unconditional love and protection). As well as I know my dog, I truly don't think she ready to go, she still tries to be active and ignore her health, but she knows there is something wrong a again. She has been trying to fight it and still tries to play, but only for short periods can she handle it. All suggestions are greatly appreciated by this wonderdog of mine, and myself...and once again please only serious responses, My name is Santo, & ya don't wanna tick me off.
What does this mean? (SSRIs)? I don't fully understand this. In simple terms how does this mechanism work: "SSRIs can destroy your sexual function through its disabling of the pituitary and liver function. SSRI anti-depression drugs cause chronic excessive prolactin production, leading to a pituitary functional disorder called HyperProlactimia. Simply put, you cannot achieve orgasm or produce semen with a high level of prolactin in your bloodstream and with a blockage of parasympathetic and sympathetic nerves. Excessive prolactin in the bloodstream also reduces testosterone and DHT release from the testicles and ovaries, resulting in bone and muscle weakness, reduced sexual function and responsiveness, and reduced seminal production. SSRIs block the brain's dopamine nervous function in the hypothalamus-pituitary axis responsible for the release of oxytocin -- a hormone that promotes emotional well-being and orgasm. SSRIs also interfere with production of other neurotransmitters and hormones by overloading the liver P45 detoxification system, and they block the spinal nervous transmission in the synapses with a flooding of serotonin due to its reuptake inhibition action. In addition, SSRIs alternate the gene expression of the dopamine D2 receptors, acetylcholine receptors, and 5-HT (serotonin) 2C receptors. Therefore, they disable erectile nervous function in the penis, clitoris and G-spot and inhibit seminal production and vaginal lubrication. They also de-sensitize the nerves in the penis, prostate, seminal vesicles, clitoris, G-spot, vagina, cervix and uterus, making orgasm difficult or impossible. SSRIs inhibit the re-uptake of serotonin in the nervous synapse and actually decrease the serotonin synthesis in the nervous terminals due to their destruction effects on the liver P45 detoxification system. As a result, taking SSRIs may reduce the serotonin nervous action on the neuromuscular ending receptors in the guts, bladder, urethra, prostate and anus, leading to incontinence."

does bottled water contain benzene and/or other toxic chemicals which can demote your overall wellbeing? Filtered/ozonated bottled water is said to be a healthy way to promote detoxification and cleansing of the body. However, recent discussion has caused me to ponder the validity of this statement. I have heard bottled water contains benzene and other potentially hazardous toxins which overtime can build up in your liver, kidney, or intestine. These toxins, along with other toxins found in commercial products such as deodorant, hand cleansers, facial wash, dish and laundry detergent, and even hair shampoo and conditioner can have a detrimental effect on your immune system which stimulates the buildup of gallstones and/or parasites, worms, protozoa, or ameboe in the body. Is it true that commercially bottled water is polluted with such toxins?

Any successful story on this or any successful story on how did you cure your severe acne would be much appreciated.
trying to pass a drug test, researching niacin - does it work? for the love of god, if one of you idiots tells me that i need to 'NOT DO DRUGS', its TOO LATE FOR THAT, i quit a week ago and have another week until my MEPS drug test for the marines. i don't want to hear any comments about how i should just not have done them in the first place and how i'm going to be useless to the military because i smoked some pot. let's be honest, pot in no way decreases your performance at the level that alcohol does, and a good percentage of the military are raging alcoholics so shut your stupid whiny judgemental mouths while i protect your right to do so. i want real sources and information on HOW niacin will do so, not just stories about how it did for you or friends. i'm aware of the flush it creates, and the sweating (this is always good for detoxification, but there are many ways to sweat without fucking with your liver), but honestly - will taking a couple 250mg niacin tablets a day for about five days help me clear up my piss? it's just a piss test, no blood or hair. once more, NO comments saying "No, it doesnt." or even "yes, it does." give me an IN-DEPTH explanation. i don't want to hear about how long weed stays in your system because most of those numbers are grossly exaggerated and come from people who take what we learned about pot in high school to be facts. help me out here please, no jackasses. to 'princess' who says IT DOESNT WORK, just THINK ABOUT IT, WHY WOULD IT COVER UP WEED IN YOUR SYSTEM, blah blah blah i'm retarded, it doesn't COVER UP weed in your system, it opens up your blood cells and helps to break down some fats in your blood, and makes you sweat. all of these aid in getting toxins, including THC, out of your system. unfortunately, you didn't follow my instructions. if you were gonna say NO IT DOESNT, explain to me EXACTLY what it does and WHY its properties wouldnt help getting pot out of the system instead of pretending you know something.
FASTING question for people who have done it ONLY!!!!? only answer if you fasted before, because you`ll know the good that comes with it. THE GOODNESS OF FASTING: fasting is a multidimensional experience. Physiologically, refraining from eating minimizes the work done by the digestive organs, including the stomach, intestines, pancreas, gallbladder, and liver. Most important here is that our liver, our body’s large production and metabolic factory, can spend more time during fasting cleaning up and creating its many new substances for our use. Breakdown of stored or circulating chemicals is the basic process of detoxification. The blood and lymph also have the opportunity to be cleaned of toxins as all the eliminate functions are enhanced with fasting. Each cell has the opportunity to catch up on its work; with fewer new demands, it can repair itself and dump its waste for the garbage pickup. Most fasters also experience a new vibrancy of their skin and clarity of mind and body. the thing i need to know would be to rethink the method i`m doing it, what i listed was the benefits that come from TRUE faster, aka the water, lemon mix mostly just by drinking water. here is my question, by drinking v8, will that be cheating even if i do it once, i feel like that is cheating since i will still be making my body work out that of my system, i`m starting today, and going for 12 day
Bio vagina structure? Blood leaving the liver has a high concentration of urea, which is formed by the a)deamination of amino acids. b) denaturation of protein. c) digestion of proteins. d) detoxification of lactic acid Osmoreceptors are cells sensitive to a) the core body temperature regulating diuresis. b) blood pressure regulating the strength and rate of the heart beat. c) the concentration of water (solvent) and/or particles (solute) in the blood. d) the amount of food in the stomach to regulate hunger. A person took in a mid-day brunch and consumed numerous food items that contain a high content of salt. A homeostatic response by the body would a) to have a great thirst sensation later in the afternoon. b) inhibit the osmoreceptors creating a thirst sensation. c) to eliminate a large volume of urine. d) inhibit the hypothalamus resulting in more urine formation If blood plasma is dilute, then the hypothalamus a) decreases ADH release resulting in more water reabsorption and more urine excretion. b) increases ADH resulting in less water reabsorption and more urine excretion. c) decreases ADH release resulting in less water reabsorption and more urine excretion. d) increases ADH release resulting in more water reabsorption and more urine excretion. One function of the kidney is to a) regulate acid-base balance. b) form urea. c) secrete antidiuretic hormone. d) regulate body temperature. When the pituitary gland releases an increased amount of antidiuretic hormone, it causes a) reduced water reabsorption by the capillaries. b) increased urine volume. c) decreased permeability of the nephrons to water. d) reduced urine volume. The amount of fluid retained in the body is regulated by both a)aldosterone and insulin. b) erythropoietin and secretin. c) aldosterone and antidiuretic hormone. d) antidiuretic hormone andd gastrin. It was observed that an experimental subject consistently passed a larger volume of urine after consuming three cups of black unsweetened tea containing caffeine than after consuming an equal volume of sweetened lemonade. Assume all other variables were carefully controlled. Which hypothesis is based on an appropriate body response to the active ingredient identified in the beverage ? a) The caffeine in the tea caused a reduction in the secretion of ADH by the pituitary gland. b) The sugar in the lemonade provided additional energy for the active transport of water out of the nephrons. c) The caffeine in the tea caused the liver to produce more urea. d) The sugar in the lemonade blocked the reabsorption of water by the distal tubules of the kidney. After an individual drinks large quantities of water, the blood becomes slightly diluted. The body immediately reacts by a) increasing the secretion of ADH. b) reabsorbing more sodium ions from the filtrate of the nephron into the blood. c) increasing the secretion of aldosterone from the adrenal glands. d) decreasing the secretion of ADH. In an artificial kidney, blood is pumped through dialysis tubing (semipermeable tubing) which is immersed in a tank of washing or dialyzing solution. The blood is cleansed because a) urea and other impurities diffuse into the wash solution. b) chemical cleansers diffuse into the blood from the wash solution. c) water from the wash solution enters the blood by osmosis. d) poisons from the blood are actively transported out of the tubing. Dialysis machines purify blood by passing it through semi-permeable cellophane tubing immersed in a tank of dialysing fluid. Wastes are transferred through the tubing into the fluid. A system of this type can perform all the functions of a normal kidney except the a) diffusion of salts into the blood. b) active transport of substances out of the blood. c) filtration of smaller particles into the nephron. d) osmosis of water into the collecting duct. An activity that increases as a result of untreated diabetes mellitus is a)storage of energy for tissue activities. b) use of sugar by tissue cells. c) release of insulin from the pancreas. d) excretion of glucose by the kidneys. Arteriolar dilation throughout the body would cause urine production to decrease because the a)osmotic pressure of the blood plasma would decrease. b) osmotic pressure of the blood plasma would increase. c) blood pressure in the glomerular capillaries would increase. d) blood pressure in the glomerular capillaries would decrease. What can be done to improve knowledge of a good diet in the UK? I asked a question yesterday on how companies are to be reproached for mis-selling dieting and detoxification products/regimes that simply do not work, and moreover, can adversely affect the body. In my experience - public knowledge of dietary requirements is appalling, bordering on the ignorant when it comes to veganism/vegetarianism (I am certainly not one - but people should be more versed in these diets). The extent of public knowledge seems to be low fat/calories = good. Outside of those well researched, how many people would know what vitamin K is good for? What vitamins/minerals are good for the Liver? Better knowledge of the food we consume would stop these fraudsters mis-selling products that claim the do more than they do. But how do we make people aware more readily on what they are eating? Do we ask already-overburdened teachers to make more effort? More public information? We really are missing a trick here. If people were much better informed then surely more people would make the right choices, and obesity (among other things) would surely be less prevalent in our society.... Unfortunately, I believe the 'snapshot' values you see on a box of cereal (among others) that say a portions calories/fat/sugar etc is good but not enough. People still do not fully appreciate what these figures mean. How can people be made to think about the constituents in our food?
